The Sequin Lead is now The Resale Stylist

This time last year, I was summoning all the courage I had to start a business that would make use of the 15+ years of expertise I’ve accumulated in the world of secondhand fashion, fashion resale, and circular fashion. It was scary: I had a full-time job, I’d never started a real business before, and I wasn’t even sure how to approach building a community of fashion resale enthusiasts.

I chose the name The Sequin Lead because, in short, sequins make me feel special, and I wanted my business to be a place where people could come to feel special. The problem with a name like The Sequin Lead, is, well, no one was sure what it actually was or did or who it was for. Also, when you say “The Sequin Lead” out loud, it sounds like “Sequinly” — and I got a lot of “Wait, what’s it called?” and “Can you spell it for me?” and “How’s the Sequin thing coming along?”

This wasn’t gonna cut it.

So back to the drawing board we went. After many brainstorming and daydreaming sessions — including plenty of “what if?!” moments during Peloton strength training workouts — we landed on our new brand: The Resale Stylist. Our mission remains the same: to build the most inclusive, authoritative, reliable community of fashion resale enthusiasts in the world. To promote circularity, to live a more authentic, confident, and responsible lifestyle, and to dispel the outdated myths that accompany used or upcycled apparel.

We’re designing our new plane as we’re flying it — there’s some obvious pros and cons to that approach, and we hope you’ll humor us as we rebrand over the coming days. Yes, a few links might not work at first. Yes, there might be some inconsistencies throughout our website, our resources, our social media, and our email newsletter. And yes — we’ll update them. If it’s still been a while and you're still noticing something out of whack, just let us know.

Here’s to The Resale Stylist, and a bright future ahead. 🥂
