City Scene: Denver

Before we even figured out where we were going to live in Colorado, I was scoping out consignment stores in metro Denver. Sure, feel free to make judgements about my priorities, I get it. If you find yourself in the Denver area and are in the mood to roll up your sleeves to go consignment shopping, these establishments have The Sequin Lead’s stamp of approval.

Kouture Consignment
Cherry Creek | 300 Josephine St #120, Denver, CO 80206 | Instagram
Kouture Consignment was the very first consignment store I ever stepped into in Colorado — and I really lucked out by discovering this gem tucked in a second floor unit in the Cherry Creek shopping district. Kouture is relatively small and lined with beautiful pieces from high-end and luxury designers. You won’t find your everyday mall brands here — but you will find labels like Bottega Veneta, Stella McCartney, The Row, and quality vintage pieces. And yet, it somehow doesn’t feel snobbish at all, but instead like your friend’s warm, bright, friendly closet where you get to play dress-up. Kouture specializes in women’s clothing, accessories, shoes, and bags and is owned and managed by Janice Smith, a woman who not just knows her designers, but truly appreciates and embodies what it means to have style. Do yourself a favor and stop by. (And yes, these fabulous red Giuseppe Zanotti platform boots are featured on Kouture’s Instagram.)

Common Threads Denver
Pearl Street | 1575 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210 | Instagram
If there ever was a super approachable, humble, charming storefront that had not only your affordable basics (hello, not-insanely-priced-high-quality-leggings!) but also special investment pieces (see: these gorgeous Chanel quilted combat boots), this is it. With a medium-sized space organized by category and several dressing rooms, pieces ranging from athleisure to bags to sunglasses to coats and dresses fill this lovely shop right off of Pearl Street. Grab a coffee or lunch beforehand to power up — you’ll need it.

The Vintage Label
Union Station/Downtown | 1635 17th St, Denver, CO 80202 | Instagram
Detail, detail, detail — that’s the differentiator at The Vintage Label, a bright, clean, colorful space right across from Denver’s iconic Union Station. From the doorman to the shop’s signature scent, there is no detail left un-considered at The Vintage Label. Shop vintage and modern pieces from a variety of designers, barware that would make Don Draper swoon, and books, accessories, and bags that will bring a smile to your face with just a glance.
